Our Worship

Worship is the cornerstone of our life together. Through the ups and downs of life, the time we share together worshiping God is central to the way we deepen the ties that bind to each other and to God.

We know that visiting any church for the very first time can be a tough experience, but we want your visit to Park Church Norwich to be a blessing.  Sit anywhere you like, get comfortable and be blessed. We share a variety of different types of music, from hymns and anthems to more contemporary music., We are a teaching church, sharing the word of God and growing into it.  Most Sundays we share first from the Revised Common Lectionary but Lord knows where we might end up in what God has for us.  We are a welcoming and friendly group not only in our worship time but always after service during our coffee hour in the parlor of the Parish house.

What can I expect on my first visit?

You will find a very down to earth atmosphere, where members are extremely close knit – praying for one another, sharing, and growing together.  Each service lasts around an hour, and includes great music and a bulletin that will lead you through all parts of worship.  Children of all ages and abilities are welcome in worship! We are thrilled for the opportunity to share God’s love with all of God’s creatures. However, we also have Sunday School classes on most Sundays for elementary aged young folks.

We share the Lord’s Supper (Communion) on the first Sunday of the month. Children remain in worship for the full hour on these days, but we try to make the service interactive and friendly to wiggly little bodies.

We have Bible study during the week (schedule currently in flux so call the office for more info).

What about children?

We are a family church! Families of all kinds (and all their children) are welcome in all of our services. We have a children’s Sunday School which begins at about 10:15.  Children join us for the first part of worship and after a ‘Message for all age’ are welcomed to  join our classes, where children work on Scripture memory, Bible songs, crafts, and Bible lessons. We also have a nursery space for children under 5 years old on the second floor of our Parish House which we staff when it is needed.

Parenting is a hard job; it’s our desire to provide encouragement, resources, and  teaching to help your entire family be spiritually equipped and strengthened.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

Park Church Norwich does not want any guest to feel an obligation to participate in our offering. If you are a member of another church, your tithe belongs there. Any gift given above that is a blessing to us and to God.  We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find this church to be a place where you can grow in God’s grace.  If you’ve visited for a while and want to consider membership please ask a Deacon about our next membership class.

Other questions?

If there’s a question we missed on this list, just send us an email, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it’s been a long time since you’ve attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Park Church Norwich will be a blessing! We are looking forward to meeting you personally and your being a part of worship, and/or as a part of our church family.
