Our Worship
Worship is the cornerstone of our life together. Through the ups and downs of life, the time we share together worshiping God is central to the way we deepen the ties that bind to each other and to God.
We know that visiting any church for the very first time can be a tough experience, but we want your visit to Park Church Norwich to be a blessing. Sit anywhere you like, get comfortable and be blessed. We share a variety of different types of music, from hymns and anthems to more contemporary music., We are a teaching church, sharing the word of God and growing into it. Most Sundays we share first from the Revised Common Lectionary but Lord knows where we might end up in what God has for us. We are a welcoming and friendly group not only in our worship time but always after service during our coffee hour in the parlor of the Parish house.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Our church family is led by Pastor Paul Doyle. You will find a very down to earth atmosphere, where members are extremely close knit- praying for one another, sharing, and growing together. Each service lasts around an hour (no guarantees). Please know if a service runs long and you have some place you need to be we’ll look forward to seeing you the next time you visit. We share the Lord’s Table (Communion) always on the first Sunday of the month, but have been known to share it more often as the Lord leads. We have Bible study during the week (see the calendar for dates and times) we offer quarterly workshops on a variety of topics and also a special quarterly prayer time of praying for and with one another.
What about children?
We are a family church, families of all kinds, and we welcome children in all of our services. There is a nursery for children under 5 years old on the second floor of our Parish House. We also have a children’s Sunday School which begins at about 10:15 (9:45) during the summer. Children join us for the first part of worship and after a ‘Message for all age’ are welcomed to join our classes, where children work on Scripture memory, Bible songs, crafts, and Bible lessons. Parenting is a hard job; it’s our desire to provide encouragement, resources, and Bible teaching to help your entire family be spiritually equipped and strengthened.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
Park Church Norwich does not want any guest to feel an obligation to participate in our offering. We do not do a formal offering during service! Offering plates are available by each doorway. If you are a member of another church, your tithe belongs there. Any gift given above that is a blessing to us and to God. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find this church to be a place where you can grow in God’s grace. If you’ve visited for a while and want to consider membership please ask a Deacon about our next membership class.
